We all want wedding speaches to be funny but when it comes to your own , funny speeches are not all that easy to come up with. I have been to a fair few weddings in my life of close friends and one thing that really struck me was that my friends that were naturally funny in other situations did not give the best groom speech. This did surprise me and I have seen it now on more than one ocassion.

My thoughts on it are that my friends were trying to ensure that the speach was first an foremost funny and anything after that was a bonus. This I believe is the wrong approach – see why below.

The Secret to Good Speech Jokes

Speech jokes are essential if you want to be a good crowd-pleaser. They ensure that your audience stays attentitve especially through the different speakers. What I found that works great is when you feel you are getting too-emotional ( and you will believe me ) then have a few speech jokes to call on that are personal ( between you & your partner ) that not to many other people know about.  Please just make sure they are respectful -  there is nothing more embarassing to the crowd than talking about something that is too personal between you and your partner.

Believe it or not I was at a wedding where the groom proceeded to talk about an incident that he and his partner had in the bath – Sure it knocked a great laugh from the crowd but it was more of a oohhh rather than hahaha. Please don’t do that as your groom speech will be remembered for all the wrong reasons.
